Change is about being open to the new

Change is about being open to the new. It’s life’s constant invitation for us to reinvent ourselves, whether by choice or necessity. But even though change brings the promise of something different, it’s rarely easy. Even the changes we choose – switching jobs, moving houses, cities, countries, or even shifting priorities – carry the weight of the unknown and require adaptation.

I know this all too well. I’ve changed so many times that I sometimes lose count of how often I’ve had to rebuild myself. Every city I’ve called home – Patos, João Pessoa, Natal, Floripa, Copenhagen, London, and now Milton Keynes – was a new beginning. Each one challenged me in different ways, pulled me out of what I knew, and introduced me to a new version of myself.

Change is never just physical. It’s emotional, mental, a dance between what we leave behind and what we’re willing to embrace. Often, the most profound changes are not the visible ones. They’re the internal ones – when we redirect our dreams, prioritize well-being, or let go of what no longer serves us.

What I’ve learned from all these transitions is that time is essential. Adapting takes time. Feeling at home in a new place, a new routine, or a new version of yourself requires patience and, most importantly, openness. It’s not always comfortable. Some changes come with uncertainties, longing for what was left behind, or even doubts about whether we made the right decision.

But I believe that when we allow ourselves to be open to the process, things begin to flow. When we choose to believe that, at that moment, we made the best decision we could, the path becomes less heavy. That doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges, but it allows us to experience the journey with a freer heart, less burdened by rigid expectations.

Every change I’ve faced has brought me something. Some showed me how strong I could be; others taught me about resilience and letting go. All of them reminded me that life is a constant flow and that nothing is fixed – not the places, not the circumstances, not even who we are.

Today, I look at each change as a blank page, ready to be written. And even though the uncertainty of the new can sometimes feel daunting, I choose to move forward because I know it’s in the adaptation, in the courage to keep going, that I find the truest version of myself.

Change is an act of courage. It’s the choice to keep growing, learning, and believing that there’s always something beautiful waiting for us, even if we can’t see it yet.

And so, I keep changing – places, dreams, priorities – but always staying true to the one who is never afraid to reinvent herself.
